Ensure Your Instagram Account is Connected to Squarespace

Before you start adding your Instagram feed to Squarespace, it's essential to confirm that your Instagram account is properly linked to your Squarespace account. Here's a step-by-step guide to help you with this process:

If you maintain separate Instagram accounts for personal and business use, ensure you're logged out of all your Instagram accounts on your computer or mobile app. This prevents Squarespace from connecting to your personal account by mistake.

  • In the Home Menu, navigate to the "Settings" option, and then access the "Connected Accounts" panel.

  • Click "Connect Account" and choose "Instagram" from the options.

  • Log in to your Instagram business account.

  • To keep your Squarespace Instagram feed updated automatically, don't forget to check the "Download data" option.

By following these steps, you'll establish a solid connection between your Instagram account and your Squarespace website. Now you're ready to seamlessly integrate your Instagram feed into your site's design.

Integrate an Instagram Block

To showcase your Instagram feed directly on your Squarespace pages, you'll need to utilize the Instagram Block. This versatile block enables you to curate a stunning gallery of your Instagram photos without the need for additional gallery blocks or dedicated gallery pages.

Follow these simple steps to add an Instagram block to your Squarespace website:

  • While editing a page or a post, click on "Add Block" or locate an insert point where you want to place the Instagram feed.

  • From the block menu, select "Instagram."

  • Click the pencil icon on the block to access the block editor.

  • In the "Account" tab, choose a connected Instagram account from the "Connected Account" drop-down menu. You can also opt to "Add an account" and establish a new connection if needed.

  • Select the number of Instagram posts to display (you can choose up to 20).

  • Navigate to the "Design" tab to select a design style and tailor the display settings to your preference.

  • Save your changes.

With these steps, your Instagram feed will seamlessly integrate with your Squarespace site, enhancing its visual appeal and engagement.

Select the style

Now, let's talk about the design aspect of embedding your Instagram feed into your Squarespace site. To accomplish this, navigate to the design tab, where you'll have the opportunity to select the ideal appearance for your posts. There are four design options at your disposal:

Slideshow: This design showcases one post at a time, providing a clean and focused view.

Carousel: With the carousel design, posts are displayed in full view, and you can see parts of the previous and next posts on either side, depending on your settings.

Grid: The grid design organizes posts into a visually appealing grid of images.

Stacked: This design presents posts at full width, one on top of the other, creating a cohesive and seamless display.

For each design, you have the flexibility to customize various aspects, such as aspect ratio, padding, and post behavior when clicked. Additionally, you can select transition modes, control options for navigating between posts, and alignment preferences tailored to the design you've chosen. Once you've completed your design customization, simply click Save to implement your changes.

Addressing Squarespace Instagram Feed Issues

Instagram's occasional policy adjustments or product updates may lead to disruptions in your Instagram feed on Squarespace. These disruptions could manifest as outdated content, repetitive or inaccurate posts, or even the absence of the feed altogether. If you encounter any of these challenges or encounter other issues with your Instagram feed on Squarespace, consider the following steps to address them:

  1. Check the connection

To resolve the majority of Instagram-related issues on your Squarespace site, follow these steps to ensure your setup is correct:

  • Access the "Connected Accounts" section.

  • Locate your Instagram account.

  • Verify that the "Download Data" feature is turned on.

  • Click on "Reset Data."

  • Save your modifications.

  • Refresh the web page.

  • This should be your initial troubleshooting step if you encounter difficulties with Instagram feeds on your Squarespace website since, in most instances, the problem arises from an imperfect connection.

  1. Reconnect the link.

If you're still encountering issues or encountering an "Unauthorized: Remove or re authenticate this account for continued usage" error message, consider disconnecting and then reconnecting your Instagram account. Follow these steps:

  • Locate your Instagram account within the Connected Accounts section.

  • Click on "Disconnect" and confirm the action.

  • In a separate browser tab, log out of all your Instagram accounts on your device.

  • Return to your Squarespace site and click on "Connect" in the Connected Accounts panel.

  • Choose Instagram from the Social Accounts menu, and log in using your Instagram username and password.

  • Save your settings.

  • Return to the Instagram block and, within the block editor's account tab, select your Instagram account from the Connected Account drop-down menu.

  • Save your changes, and either continue editing or exit and save the editor.

Think of it as the digital version of the classic troubleshooting technique – turning something off and then on again.

Insert a new block.

If the problem continues, consider removing the troublesome block and replacing it with a new one. Follow these steps:

  • Access the Pages panel and choose the page that includes the Instagram block.

  • Hover over the page and select "Edit."

  • Locate the Instagram block and click the trash can icon to remove it.

  • Choose an insertion point and select the Instagram block.

  • Select your Instagram account and save the adjustments.

  • Refresh the page.

It might require a little extra effort, but this should likely resolve the issue!

Turn off ad-blockers and browser add-ons.

Instagram sections may fail to appear if your browser has ad blockers in place. As an initial measure, it's recommended to disable any ad-blocking tools. If you're still encountering problems with block display, consider deactivating all browser extensions as well.
